What causes skin laxity?

Skin laxity or skin sagging is caused by a depletion in collagen and elastin levels. These proteins give our skin its structure and ‘bounce back’ ability, so when they decline everything falls south. Skin laxity can also be caused by excessive weight loss, while excessive sun exposure and smoking can accelerate how early you start to notice sagging.

How is skin laxity treated at Nish Clinic?

As with all conditions, we offer a range of treatments that can be tailored to your needs. For skin laxity, we offer:

  • Microneedling: this treatment involves creating micro-injuries in the treatment area which will induce collagen production for thicker, firmer skin
  • Radiofrequency microneedling: as well as inducing collagen production in the top layers of the skin through microneedling, the heat generated from radiofrequency energy will produce collagen on a deeper skin level for more effective results
  • IPL: using a continuous pulse mode of light with the BBL SkinTyte, this impressive device can successfully tighten loose skin
  • Laser: by heating deep layers of the skin, our HALO laser can induce collagen production to improve skin’s structure and firmness

Are there any side effects or complications associated with skin laxity treatment?

The treatments we offer are proven to be safe and effective but, as with any procedure, you may experience some mild side effects that will depend on the treatment you undergo. Our team will explain everything you can expect, and any potential complications that may occur, during a detailed and personalised consultation.

What results can you expect?

Results will depend on the treatment you undergo. Of course, it’s important to remember that we continue to age and be exposed to the sun, so no procedure will offer a permanent solution to skin laxity. That’s why we recommend always undergoing a course of treatment and having regular maintenance treatments for ongoing results.
