What is rosacea ?

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that can present in a number of ways:

  • Persistent redness
  • Frequent blushing/flushing with a sense of heat
  • Visible blood vessels known as telangiectasia
  • Irritated watery or bloodshot eyes known as ocular rosacea
  • Bumps or pimples which can be puss-filled
  • Skin thickening on the nose known as rhinophyma
  • Stinging
  • Tightness
  • Swelling
  • Dryness

What causes rosacea ?

The exact cause of rosacea is unknown, but some research suggests that your genes, blood vessels and harmless microscopic mites that live on skin can play a role. Some people may be more sensitive to the mites, making their skin more prone to irritation.
Rosacea can be worsened by:

  • Alcohol
  • Hot drinks
  • Sun
  • Spicy foods
  • Extremes of hot or cold temperatures
  • Aerobic exercise
  • Stress

Are there any side effects or complications associated with rosacea treatment ?

The treatments we offer are proven to be safe and effective but, as with any procedure, you may experience some mild side effects that will depend on the treatment you undergo. Our team will explain everything you can expect, and any potential complications that may occur, during a detailed and personalised consultation.

What results can you expect ?

Results depend on the severity of your rosacea and the type of treatment you undergo. As rosacea is a chronic condition, results are not permanent and symptoms may reoccur. That’s why we recommend always undergoing a course of treatment and having regular maintenance procedures for ongoing results.
